Easton, 1776
| The Easton, 1776 flag, with eight-pointed stars, is thought by many to be the first stars and stripes version of the American Flag. This flag was named after the community of Easton, a County Seat in eastern Pennsyslvania. Easton is located due north of Philadelphia on the west bank of the Delaware River. Easton was founded in 1752. It served as frontier outpost during the American Revolution. It was the home of George Taylor, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Easton can boast location of the Third Street Reformed Church, the site of important Indian peace conferences, and used as a hospital during the American Revolution.
